I am a writer and the former managing editor at AfterEllen.com. My novel, Ash, a retelling of the “Cinderella” fairy tale, will be published by Little, Brown in Fall 2009.

I was awarded the 2006 Sarah Pettit Memorial Award for Excellence in LGBT Journalism by the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association for my work at AfterEllen.com, where I have written about gender, race and class as it relates to representations of queer women on television.

I earned my B.A. in Economics and Chinese Studies at Wellesley College, my M.A. in Regional Studies: East Asia at Harvard University, and my M.A. in Cultural and Social Anthropology at Stanford University.
